Hey Guys. I was wondering if anyone on here experienced this problem. I'm using Jaws12 on a windows7 machine. Everything is ok, untill I click on any folder in windows explorer. As soon as I press enter on the folder, and attempt to move around with my arrow keys, a message will come up saying that windows explorer has stopped working, and I have to restart. To make things even stranger, I don't have this problem when a when i'm in a save as or lookin box like in word. If anyone has had this problem, any help would be greatly appriciated

I'm also running JAWS12 on a Windows7 machine, and do not have this problem. Though, I used to have this problem on my old XP machine a few years ago. Just as you said, it was only when browsing folders. Disabling Error reporting fixed the problem, though I haven't figured out if there's a way to do that in Windows7 yet. One problem I do have quite often on my Windows7 machine when using JAWS12, though, is that Internet Explorer will stop working at random, which completely crashes Windows Explorer, and usually I have to restart. the one time I managed to bring up Task manager and attempted to kill IE, it said the task could not be terminated. I wonder if there's any similarity between these two problems?

they sound so simular. If you can find out how to disable error reporting on windows 7, that would help alot. I only have this problem on one windows 7machine, my desktop, and not my laptop.

Hi there, could you have unintentionally hit Alt P at any point?

This toggles between hiding andshowint the preview pain.

So, my suggestion would be to try hitting alt P while in a windows explorred earis.

If I am right that will turn of the preview pain and make it possible for you to arrow around and uh... explore? your folders?

Hope I am making sence, and hope this resolves your problem. :)

Hi,

You can disable Windows Error Reporting by doing the following:

start,
run
or Windows key+r,
services.msc

Then look for Windows Error Reporting. Set it to either manual or disabled.

it is the preview pain that is causing this problem. WHen in a windows explorer window, easy way to get to one is to go to computer or documents, press alt p, an d all should be back to normal.

Actually if the Windows 7 machine has not been updated Windows 7 had this issue on many machines when it was released. There is a hot fix available on Microsoft's website.
If what is suggested here doesn't solve your problem use Windows update, and get all the updates available for your computer. Next if that fails in the search box on Microsoft.com try "Windows Explorer stops working in Windows 7." You'll find the hot fix and a "fix it for me."
Let us know your fix.
Now as far as IE goes. Well IE is IE and it stops working from time to time. Again, make sure you've got all your updates, and use the same trick to search for a hot fix.
Last in Windows 7 you can try the fix it tool in the OS I'll type one more post on how to get to it and you can have 7 search for problems specificly for IE.

Okay to get there in the search box just type find and fix problems or trouble shooting. After you are there tab to view all than arrow to the one you want to try to fix and hit inter. You'll say you agree and allow it to run and you'll get an answer.
If my instructions aren't clear enough tell me and I'll do better.
